The Power of Journaling

Write to express not impress writes Frank Thomas author of "How to Write the Story of Your Life." He says that in journal writing you are not writing to impress a future audience but to reveal yourself to the Lord. One of the great things about keeping a journal is that it encourages total freedom of expression without concern over formal rules of writing.
You may scratch out words, draw arrows, or even contradict yourself. Your words may even be misspelled etc... Don't worry about how it looks! Relas. Have fun and enjoy the Lord. Concentrate on exposing your heart, not on flawless writing.

REMEMBER this: God understands your thoughts from afar (Ps. 139:2). He knows what you mean even before you try to write it out. The purpose is that you better understand your thoughts so that you can HONESTLY discuss them with him.

JOURNAL ACTIVITY: Scripture Digging
Choose a favorite Scripture verse. Record it in your journal and write as much as you can about what the verse means to you. You can ask yourself some of these questions: What does this verse say about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit? What does it say about me?

If you want, you can post your response right here. We'll also share some of our entries at our next meeting.

Reading chapter four really was a confirmation of our last session's closing discussion "Journaling",pg 46 really adds even more clarity. Journaling is a powerful tool in practicing the discpline of Meditation/Study of God's Word.
